The CIA has always denied having any proper intelligence about aliens, but now in a strange move, they release some never before seen UFO files. The documents coincided with the return of The X-Files.
The CIA declassified hundreds of documents in 1978 detailing the Agency’s investigations into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). The documents date primarily from the late 1940s and 1950s.
Most of the documents concern CIA cables reporting unsubstantiated UFO sightings in the foreign press and intra-Agency memos about how the Agency handled public inquiries about UFO sightings.
The organization said the top-secret documents would be interesting to both ‘believers like Agent Mulder and skeptics like Agent Scully’.
While most of these encounters were likely weird cloud formations, lightning or even missile tests rather than little green men, they still inspire countless conspiracy theories. From the flying frying pan of West Germany to the mysterious craft hovering over uranium mines in Africa, here are some of the CIA’s most mysterious X-files.
