The Sealed Door at Padmanabhaswamy Temple

The mysterious door of the ancient Padmanabhaswamy temple remains a mystery. The temple is one of the most protected places on the planet and this sealed door its the probable reason.

Padmanabhaswamy Temple is located in Thiruvananthapuram, India. Today the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple is one of the most protected places on the planet, guarded by metal detectors, security cameras, and more than two hundred guards, some of whom are equipped with heavy weapons.

There are an estimated $22 billion worth of gold and jewels stored in underground vaults.

This ancient temple features 8 underground vaults out of which only 5 have been opened and explored. the most impressive and mysterious feature of the temple is a hidden chamber which is guarded by two massive cobras. Legends say that anyone who dares to open the door will meet disastrous results. (in the book «Travancore; a guide book for the visitor» by Emily Gilchriest Hatch (1933) we can read some of these strange accounts)

The door has no bolts, latches or any other means of entry. Legend has it that the door was sealed shut by sound waves from a secret chant. Hindu priests say that at present, there is no human capable of executing these chants and opening the strange door.

Many speculate that the contents hidden inside this chamber go far beyond gold… could it be knowledge? Why so much protection from the Indian Government? Do they know something we don’t? We will have to wait since no archeological studies are authorized by the culture department.
